“growing up f***ing sucks”

BFA piece, triptych of mental state analysis and confronting trauma. the title is my date and time of birth. the poem was originally written for a show called LOCUS V (2020) in response to an artwork made by another artist for the show. the illustration was drawn in response to the poem itself. the collage made in response to the ending of the poem. a catharsis.

“i struggled a ton

to get this piece

together. it was an

extreme labour of

love and frustration.

coming off of the

pandemic i was

struggling with my

mental health and

had to confront a lot

of hard truths, that ultimately helped me to really grow as a person.

i was thinking a lot about my own origin story, how i came to

be and about what

comes next. i was

very inspired about

the idea surrounding

healing your inner

child and using that

to inform my future

while healing from

my past.”
